Clara, also known as Cameron to her friends, was born on April 21, 2007, to Richard and Kathryn Speckart in Alexandria, Virginia. She immediately brought joy to her family as a happy, adorable baby and quickly revealed traits that would become “classic Clara.” She was curious, quick to observe, and thoughtful. She became immediately attached to her older brother Eli and equally loved her younger brother Madsen.

Clara was a talented musician and loved playing in the Alexandria City High School marching band, wind ensemble, and jazz band.  On the night before her passing, she was up late practicing her clarinet in preparation for a district band audition. In the band, she found a tight-knit community of forever friends who gave her so much happiness.

Clara participated in the Governor’s Health Sciences Academy at ACHS and aspired to be a surgeon. She liked to imagine where she would attend medical school and her parents often reminded her with a smile that she needed to attend an undergraduate university first.

Clara loved traveling to new locations.

Clara was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was an eager participant in countless youth group activities and served in youth leadership roles. She prioritized her participation in church and early morning seminary class. She loved serving in the temple on behalf of her deceased ancestors.

Sweet 16 describes the years of life that she blessed us with; she was a constant source of joy and a blessing to our family, her friends, and the community. We will miss Clara every single day that we are apart, and we eagerly look forward to our certain and eternal reunion in God’s time. We love you, Clara.
