Claire Glassie Scrivener, of Chevy Chase, MD on Saturday, April 30, 2016.
Born in 1915 in Marion, Wisconsin, Claire grew up as the youngest of nine children. After moving to the Washington area during World War Two, she worked as a secretary before becoming a homemaker. She was a 60-year parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church in the district, a member of the Chevy Chase Club and Columbia Country Club, and an avid golfer and bridge player. She celebrated her 100th birthday in October.
Claire was the beloved wife of the late Donelson Caffery Glassie and the late David S. Scrivener; mother of Jefferson Glassie (Julie Littell) of Bethesda, MD, Claire Carlin (Gene) of Kensington, MD and John Glassie, New York, NY; Grandmother of Sean (Elle), Jay, Gregory (Whitner), Anne (Andrew), Teresa, Max and Natalie.
