Claire Arlene Buttros, age 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and in God’s arms on Aug. 30, 2014.
She was born on Dec. 15, 1929, in Newark, New Jersey. She was adored by her family, both in New Jersey and Florida. She moved to Niceville in 1989.
She loved to travel, play tennis, gardening, cook, spend time with her grandchildren, and last but not least, shop at Chico’s. She was a beautiful mother and grandmother, who always looked out for the happiness of others. Her home was filled with cheer for every holiday and birthday. When it came to her family, she made sure they had the best that life has to offer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Sophie Himmel and her first born son, Ronald McKenna.
She is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 41 years, Michael Buttros; her sister Jeanne Wood; children Dennis McKenna (Dede), Janet Leavenworth (Cliff); grandchildren Christina Leavenworth, Chris Leavenworth (Anna), Caitlin McKenna, Kelly McKenna; great grandson, James Leavenworth; She is also survived by her husband’s children, Michael Buttros Jr. (Margo), James Buttros; grandchildren Michael Buttros, Kristen Buttros, James Buttros, and 3 great grandchildren all of Maplewood, New Jersey.
She will be fondly missed by her many other relatives and a host of friends. The family would also like to express gratitude to the many care givers who assisted her: Covenant Hospice, Julie Mathias, and Julie Magboo.
