Christy lived for 51 years and passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. She attended Highland High School and Ivy Tech Community College. She was a Registered Nurse and held a special place in her heart for every elderly patient she cared for in extended care. She also loved med surg nursing at Community Hospital and valued friendships made there.
However, her career was brought to an abrupt halt at 36 years of age after complications from aneurysm surgery. Christy’s compromised physical state did not stop her from continuing to keep abreast of nursing news and education, celebrating fun times with friends, keeping the family connected, traveling to places on her bucket list and loving family with her whole heart. She adored her grandbabies!
Christy leaves behind her son “Tommy Boy” Tom (Elisa)Pozywio; adored grandkids, Max, and Aria; siblings, Jeannette (Ken)Foley, Dorothy (Al)Saltanovitz, Paul Corona, and Bob (Jocelyn) Corona. Her nieces and nephews always visited, texted, FB’d, or vacationed with her and could expect a good bit of silliness, great music, and lots of fun each time.
She had a very quick wit and generous spirit. She reached out to the Perez and Corona families, aunts, uncles, and cousins and often sent them pictures of their younger years. We will have fun sorting through those family pics and remembering how she treasured them and the love of “familia.”
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date. She was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Highland, IN. She loved music of all genres, so play something that brings you joy and if you can share it with someone, please do. Send a thoughtful card (but don’t fill it with confetti like she did), be kind to someone and strike up a conversation (she loved to chat) with someone along your route.
Contribute to a well-deserved charity in her name. Be kind. We will miss her greatly but know she will be embraced with love once again by her parents, Pablo and Sally Corona, her beloved aunt, Dorothy Krowech and our special family members who have joined a better world with the Lord.
