  • Date Of Birth: September 23, 1949
  • Date Of Death: June 25, 2017
  • State: Idaho

Chritopher Dale Evans was born in Independence, Kansas to Jack and Colleen Evans on September 23, 1949 as the oldest of four.

Family lore states “that Chris had traveled the U.S. twice by age two” due to his families travel for pipeline and military. The family settled for a time in Tulsa, Oklahoma here Chris completed K-12.  At age 18, Chris and family moved to Eden Prairie, Minnesota.  Chris attended college at Mankato State Mankato, Minnesota.   After college, Chris served in U.S. Marines following in his father’s footsteps.

Chris fell in Love with the great state of Idaho moving there and buying a stable then opening a tack shop, the “Winners Circle”, across from Les Boise race track.  This is where he met and later married Carol Brown in January of 1983.  From this union came the first two loves of his life, Carrie Jaclynn and Shane Robert Evans.  From Idaho the family moved to Coffeyville, Kansas where Chris worked for Rutlands Ranch tending race horses then moving to Taylor Crane & Rigging where he learned the art of welding.  After some years the family returned to Emmett, Idaho.  Returning to his love of horses, he worked for Veenstra’s Ranch on the feedlot.  Just before retirement, Chris worked at Hydroblend in Boise.

Throughout Chris’s many travels and jobs he developed many hobbies including his love for horses, team roping, snakes, welding, hunting, taxidermy and photography.  During retirement, Chris received the gift of his 3 other loves of his life; “his girls”, Bailee Anna, Isabella AnneMarie and Paige Scarlett Evans, his granddaughters.  Chris also found his strength, support and friendships through his AA group, attending meetings and witnessing to those in need.

Chris passed peacefully hearing the sound of his son’s voice telling him “to go home” surrounded by his daughter, sister, friend and caregiver, Ashley on June 25, 2017.  Although gone way to young from our sight, we know cancer did not win as he is living in eternity, healed and free in the loving presence of our Lord and Savior.

Chris is survived by his children, Carrie Evans and Shane (Kayla) Evans; granddaughters, Bailee, Isabella and Paige; siblings, Gregory Evans of California, Terry Evans of Oklahoma and Kathy Schroeder of Minnesota as well as by nieces and nephew from Minnesota.
