Christopher Allen Czech left this world on 13 August 2022 due to a tragic accident. His family and friends, and those who care for them, are devastated.

Chris was born March 31st, 1960, in Watertown, SD. He was the 4th of seven children born and raised by Robert and Janice (Nielsen) Czech. After a brief move to Fremont, CA as a young child, the family eventually settled in San Diego, CA where he grew up. He attended Hamilton Elementary, Wilson Junior High, and finally Hoover High School where he graduated in 1978. After high school he attended Rick’s College in Rexburg, ID. One of his favorite experiences growing up was spending a summer helping on his Grandfather George and Uncle Marvin’s farms with his cousin Bob Beckman in South Dakota.

Chris was always very mechanically inclined and enjoyed a long career as a full-service mechanic in the automotive industry. Most recently he had been employed as a well-respected and versatile mechanic at Mark Miller Toyota in Salt Lake City, UT. He was known there for his wealth of knowledge on all types of vehicles, and for his colorful language when dealing with his coworkers.

Chris had a love for anything outdoors and enjoyed the mountains especially. He loved hunting, fishing, boating, camping, hiking, geocaching, and so much more. He loved just getting out on “another adventure” with his wife Monique, and they often just dropped things for a little day trip together. He also loved to cook and experiment with new recipes. He had a great knowledge of different foods from around the world and shared his cooking talent with all of those around him. He always considered cooking and being at the stove, barbecue, or camping grill as his therapy.

Chris lived every day to its fullest, and he touched so many lives along the way. His life really blossomed when he met his bride Monique in 2013, then took her on a memorable first date fishing. They knew they had found their “catch” that day and they married on September 5th, 2014 and were inseparable ever since.

Chris is survived by his wife Monique (DeJong) Czech, and daughter Lyndsey Heddy (Jordan), son Michael Czech (Vanessa), stepson Bryant Tuck, and stepdaughter Shonte Pyles. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Jasmine, Christopher, Layla, McKenzie, Seth, Zack, Aedan, Easton, and Aurora. Chris and Monique were blessed to be raising Aurora at the time of his passing, and she loved her Papa very much.

Chris is also survived by 6 brothers and sisters, Teressa Schierbaum (Gary), Steven Czech (Sandy), Cindy Campbell (Donald), Daniel Czech (JoAnn), Laurie Young (Derek), and Dana Czech.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Eugene and Janice Doreen Czech, his father-in-law Gary Jacobus DeJong, and his niece Megan Jayne Czech.

Chris was a man of simple wants and needs, but he was a wealth of knowledge and facts, especially about history and cultures. If Chris were still here, he’d tell us all I’ll see you soon “it’s just around the bend.”
