Christine Reid Shaw died June 13, 2017 after suffering a fall at the assisted living facility where she had been living in St. Petersburg, Florida due to a severe stroke in 2012, which left her working on recovery from partial paralysis, and speech in Atlanta, GA December 23, 1962, Christine lived in Atlanta for almost her entire life until moving to St. Petersburg after her stroke.Christine graduated from Southern Polytechnic State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering, making the Dean’s List most semesters. After graduation she began a career with Lockheed-Martin in Marietta, GA and became a well thought of member of their aeronautical engineering department team working on several of Lockheed’s signature planes from fighter jets, the redesign of the presidential helicopter and to the Hercules upgrades.Christine was an active member of the Sports Car Club of America competing in their enduro series and racing in the 24 Hours of Daytona, the Longest Day at Mid-America and others. She came by her interest in racing naturally as a result of literally “growing up” around Road Atlanta from its construction as a child to a modern track where she later raced. Christine’s driving skills where further polished due to parents working as volunteer race officials and meeting and talking to many of the drivers from all over the world for 30 plus years.Christine enjoyed the camaraderie of many friends. She loved adventures in the great outdoors, traveling to many countries, enjoying hiking, whitewater rafting and skiing as well as everything the Atlanta music and cultural scene had to offer. She was hooked on the craft brew scene, at one time even thought of opening her own micro-brewery.Christine was preceded in death by her father Ralph Benjamin Shaw and is survived by her mother, Janet Davids Grantham of Scaly Mountain, NC, her brother, Steven LeConte Shaw of Rockville, MD and his wife Dutchabong Shaw, her nephew Spencer Napak Shaw, her step-mother, Charlotte Weaver Shaw, sister, Kayla Renee Shaw of Clayton, NC, step-brothers David Bobby Little of Port St Lucie FL and Darryl William Little of Elllijay, GA, step-sisters Betty Ann Tilson, and Shana Yvonne Flood of Garner NC.
