Mrs. Powers, who died Sunday, October 30, 2022, in Moulton, was born August 31, 1936, to Elbert and Ethel Blankenship. Mrs. Powers was actively involved with her church, Berea Baptist. She loved helping with VBS, chicken stews, and any missions project going on at the time. Her hobbies included sewing, gardening, and cooking. Her favorite thing was having her family and friends over for the holidays and special occasions.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Starlin Blankenship (Ruth); four sisters, Gladys LuAllen (Herman), Agnes Dutton (Felton), Classie Lee Jones (Gene), and Clara Mae Yarbrough (Billy).
She is survived by her husband, Troy Powers; son, James Powers (Anita); daughter, Janet McDonald (Randall); four grandchildren, Todd McDonald (Meagan), Brandi Jenkins (Lucas), Ashley Atkins, and Joshua McDonald; eight great-grandchildren, Luke LouAllen, Kaytie LouAllen, Stella McDonald, Sage McDonald, Audrey Mae Atkins, Kennedy Atkins, Cade Jenkins, and Neely Jenkins; bonus grandchild, Rachel Smith (Matt); and bonus great-grandchild, Elijah Smith.
The family would like to thank her church family and neighbors for the kindness shown during her illness. Also a special thanks to Amber with Shoals Home Health,and Courtney, Heather, Cassidy, Christy and Lisa with Shoals Hospice, your compassion goes beyond words.
