Christina Kay O’BrienKay passed away at Hospice House of Mid-Michigan in the early morning of July 21, 2018 at the age of 79 in the presence of her daughter and youngest granddaughter. Kay was born September 28, 1938, in Bad Axe, the daughter of Vincent F. Pariseau and Jeanette E. MacDonald. She and her family eventually moved to Owosso where Kay graduated from St. Paul Catholic School in the class of 1956. She went on to complete her nursing degree in 1959 from St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing where her class picture remains on the wall in the lower level hallway of St. Mary’s married William L. O’Brien after graduating nursing school. With that marriage came her stepson, Steven, followed by three children Scott, Christopher and Jennifer. Kay raised her children while working as a nurse at Gratiot Community Hospital for nearly 20 years. From there she continued her nursing career as a jail nurse at Shiawassee County Jail, where she retired in 2004 after 10 years. Kay took great pride in raising her kids to be through the years and all shared a close bond with each other. Her life took her on such travels to Hawaii; Acapulco; hot air ballooning over Sedona, AZ; and the Grand Canyon to list some of her favorites. Upon retirement she enjoyed spending time at her cottage in Harrison, MI, traveling to Texas or Wisconsin to visit her siblings, and spending a week each June with her River Rats friends where they solved the world’s problems while collaborating their crafting talents. While Kay adored and cherished her children, she took even greater joy in her grandchildren. She took pride in encouraging their love of reading, spelling, good manners, and being kind. She left her loving imprint on the hearts of those who knew and loved married Adrian Terrence Ahern on September 7, 2016. While her time with Terry was much too short, those nearly 2 years together gave Kay a new and brighter outlook on life and an added skip in her will be missed tremendously by her children Christopher (Heather) O’Brien and Jennifer (Michael) O’Brien-Isenhath and by her husband, Terry, along with grandchildren Taylor, Andrew, Katie, Hunter, Jack, Grace and Sophia. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Sandi O’Brien, and boys Justin (Erin), Josh (Krista), Jared (Amanda), and Will. She is remembered by her step-son Adrian (Mark) along with his siblings Patrick (Val), Brian, and Shari (Mike). Kay is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins who were all very special to her. She leaves behind many dear friends who will miss her terribly along with her special four-legged friend, AbbyCat. Kay was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Vincent, Richard, Marilyn, and Perry. She was also predeceased last year by her son, Scott, and her stepson, Steve.
