Mallard Arnold Christian Heldt, 81 of Mallard,died Sunday Janaury 27, 2008 at the Muse Norris Hospice Center, Mason City.
Arnold C. Heldt, the son of John and Elsie (Clausen) Heldt was born May 18, 1926 in Calumet, Iowa. He was raised and recieved his education in Curlew, graduating from the Curlew High School in 1943. He then attended Iowa State University before entering the United States Army, serving from 1945-1946. On June 21, 1953 he married Donna Obermoeller in Sioux City. Donna died August 10, 1957. Arnold was united in marriage with Arlene Struecker May 13, 1959 in Whittemore, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed in Mallard during their married lives.
Survivors include his wife Arlene, Mallard, IA, sons: Tim (Debra) of Johnston, IA, David of Ely, IA, and Neal of Mallard, IA, Daughters: Karen (Jay) Heldt Chapman of Urbandale, IA, and Diane Heldt of Cedar Rapids, IA, a brother Carl of Mallard, IA, and sister Anna Hillmer Spencer, IA, and four grandchildren: Jim, Erin, Alex and Dan. Arnold was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Mallard American Legion Post, the Palo Alto Republican Party and was an Ellington Township Trustee. He was preceded in death by his parens, first wife, Donna, a son Tom and brother Herman.
