Christian Delicema, Sr. was born on December 25, 1942 in Miragoane, Haiti to Rosea Richmond (mother) and Acelus Delicema (father). He moved to Port-au-Prince, Haiti as a young child to attend school. He was a promising student and finished first in his class. After high school, he attended fashion design school. He learned his craft, and soon opened his own business. He worked from 5am to midnight daily designing clothes for regular citizens as well as dignitaries. He was well known for his work and earned the title “Boss Kiki.”
He married Marie Joseph on November 11, 1972. In 1981, he moved to Brooklyn, New York in search of a better life. In 1982, he earned a full scholarship to attend Fashion Institute of Technology but had to focus on work in order to provide for his family. He worked as a machine operator from 1981 to 1999. His health started declining in 1999. He had a long battle with dementia and other ailments that spanned more than 15 years. In 2016, he rallied with death and won. He went home to be with the Lord on April 5, 2020. He was a quiet man who lived a peaceful life. He enjoyed listening to the music, reading, writing, and playing dominoes. He was the most kind, cool, and collected person his family has ever known. We will always remember him that way.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marie Delicema, his children, Lovely Garcon, Christian Delicema, Chrisler Delicema, and Jessie McQueen; his grandchildren, Triston Delicema, Ketura McQueen, Isaac McQueen, Sydney-Love Henriquez, Cassidy McQueen, and Skylar McQueen; his beloved sister Saintilna Delisme; his nieces and nephews, Dominique Joseph, Eric Delisme, Barbara Lominy, Julia Delusme, Norvelie Senatus, his grandniece Katiana Delisme, his sons in-law, Doyle McQueen and Jean C. Lubin, his daughter in-law, Sarah Delicema, and a large extended family.
