Christene Cox Loveland, 63, of Boise passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at her home. Chris was born in Key West, Florida in a Naval Hospital to Robert L. Cox and Patsy Cox on June 30, 1952. The family moved to Boise, Idaho when Chris was 2 years old. Chris attended the Boise School District making many friends along the way.
Following graduation Chris immediately enrolled at Boise State and majored in Accounting for 2 years. Chris was active with the LDS institute. She participated in the institute choir and had the opportunity to perform at the Mormon Tabernacle in Salt Lake City. She also toured Europe with a LDS institute group. Chris was easy to be around and her mother said she was the easiest kid in the world to raise.
Chris met her husband, Brock, in February of 1972 at Boise State while in LDS institute. They were engaged in April and married on September 7, 1972 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They had a terrible car accident on their honeymoon where Chris was miraculously saved by rescuers and medical expertise. She recovered and helped Brock finish college by working full time at the State Highway Department.
Brock took a teaching job in Salmon, Idaho where Chris participated in many outdoor activities. They moved back to Boise where they raised their family.
Chris loved being a mother and homemaker.
Chris had a sense of outdoor adventure rafting Idaho’s rivers, hunting, fishing and horseback riding in Idaho’s mountains. Chris was active in Shotokan karate obtaining the rank of brown belt.
Once her children were in school, Chris began working at AIRE, a major rafting manufacturer. During her years at AIRE Chris was a very dependable employee and was well liked throughout the organization. Chris jokingly would say she was an indentured servant because her work helped pay for her husband’s many custom rafts.
Chris transitioned from neighborhood mom to neighborhood grandmother and she was affectionately known as Nana by all. Her nurturing nature she had perfected over the years came into full bloom with her 15 grandchildren.
Chris is survived by her husband, Brock; her sons, Jeremy (Jana) and Jared (Katie); daughters, Jennifer (Jason) Parke and Mandy (Geoff) Johnson; brothers, Robin and Kevin; and sister, Kim. Chris was preceded in death by her loving parents, Robert and Pasty Cox.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Heritage Hope Hospice and the At Home Care group.
