Chris Lee Peterson, son of Clarence “Duff” and Dorothy Maxine (Timmons) Peterson, was born April 16, 1952, in Rolfe, Iowa. Chris graduated from Rolfe High School in 1970. Upon graduation he attended Lincoln Tech College in Des Moines, IA and achieved a degree in diesel mechanics. Chris made his home in Gilmore City, IA while working for Eggerich, Goodrich and Prentice Trucking, until ultimately working for Midwest Limestone as a mechanic and then superintendent, finalizing his career at Martin Marietta. Chris married Mary Hacker June 12, 1976 at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt. Together they raised two sons. When his health permitted, Chris was a volunteer on the Gilmore City ambulance crew and mowed the town’s cemetery, church and residents’ lawns. Chris at one time raised German Shepherds, and his dogs were very special to him. He liked to spend time with his good friend Larry Nielsen, and together they could be found helping around the community. Chris enjoyed fishing, taking family vacations and spending time with his grandchildren. Chris died at his home in Gilmore City February 11, 2015 at age 62. Survivors include his wife Mary Peterson of Gilmore City,IA, sons Cory (Miranda) Peterson of Humboldt, IA and Jesse Peterson of Blue Grass, IA, grandchildren Carter, Liam, Ella and Hudson Peterson, mother Maxine Peterson, father-in-law Bob Hacker, brother Richard (Jane) Peterson of Austin, MN and sisters Judy (Paul) Tange of Riceville, IA and Peggy Vanderhoff of Gilmore City, IA. Chris was preceded in death by his father Duff Peterson, mother-in-law Rachel Hacker, and brother-in-law Pat Vanderhoff. Chris’s calm voice, happy smile and grand love will always be remembered.
