Johnny Gill Hobgood, 69, of Rockledge, Florida and formerly of Severn, Maryland, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at his home. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sharon; their children Lisa Smith (Robert, Jr.), Elizabeth Kallarakal (Varkey, Jr.), and Meagan Pantelis (Andrew); their grandchildren Erin, Lauren, Mackenzie, Madelyn, and Varkey, III; his sister Roann Hobgood, several nieces and nephews, and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, L.W. and Ruth Hobgood.
John was a retired United States Army Chief Warrant Officer of 24 years and a highly respected retired civilian employee of the Department of the Army. He served as a decorated intelligence officer and a linguist, mastering the languages of Chinese Mandarin, Korean, and Czech.
