Chief Master Sergeant, William “Bill” Raymond McGarvey, Jr., USAF, retired, 79, of Collinsville, IL, born April 2, 1934 in Grayville, IL, died Monday, April 15, 2013 at Eden Village Care Center in Glen Carbon, IL. Bill was a member of 1st Baptist Church of O’Fallon. He retired February 28, 1973, as a Chief Master Sgt. after 20 years of honorable service in the United States Air Force. He also retired from civil service in Strategic Planning at Scott Air Force Base. He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Lola Jewell, nee Simmons, McGarvey, in-laws; Morton L. & Garnita R., nee Miller, Gaskill, a sister Sandra Lee, brothers-in-law; Gene Gaskill and Wally Templeton, a nephew Eric Gaskill .
Bill is survived by his wife Marcia, nee Gaskill, McGarvey of Collinsville, IL, children, Dale Wayne McGarvey of Indianapolis, IN, Brenda Leilani McGarvey of Belleville, IL, Margie Ann (Andy) Broadway of Swansea, IL, Melodee Joy DeVuyst of Brookings, SD, Gregory Dale (Tami) Schmidt of O’Fallon, IL, Vicki Ann Evans of O’Fallon, IL, brothers, Jerry (Betty) McGarvey, David (Jessica) McGarvey, Mike McGarvey, brothers-in-law, Dick Lee, Roy “Butch” (Betsy) Gaskill, sister-in-law; Carole Templeton, grandchildren, Matt Randle, Tory (fiancee’ Meghan) Winchester, Sara (Rich) Morris, Ashley Winchester, Sami Barnes, Jesse Schmidt, Nick Broadway, Jeffrey DeVuyst, Ali Schmidt, Katie Broadway, Olivia Schmidt, Shelby Broadway, great grandchildren, Alyssa Roberts, Madison Roberts, Rachael Morris, Richie Morris, and coming soon, “Baby Sweet Pea”. Bill is also survived by numerous cousins, including George (Rose Ella) William McGarvey, nieces and nephews, including William Raymond McGarvey III, great nieces, great nephews, his loving church family, and former co-workers, old friends, and Maxine M. McGarvey.
