Chester R. Caffee, 91, Greensburg, passed on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at the Heritage House Nursing Home in Greensburg.
Born, November 13, 1925 in Metcalfe County, Kentucky, he was the son of Omer and Mattie (Brown) Caffee.
Chester served in WW II with the Army. After the war, he farmed, worked for Hamilton Costco in Columbus for 18 years, and then he owned and operated the Caffee’s Leather Craft until his retirement.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Letts. He was a former judge for the AKC Dog shows.
He was married to Gladys Harper on November 7, 1942 and she preceded him in death on August 13, 1991.
He is survived by three sons, Jim (Donna) Caffee, Greensburg, Alfred Caffee, Greensburg, Fred Caffee, Greensburg; one daughter, Bonnie (Wayne) Wade, Greensburg; three sisters, Edna Layton, Westport, Laura (Ray) Gearlds, Texas, Shirley Wilson, North Vernon; twelve grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; one son, Jerry Caffee; three brothers, Ben, Melvin, and Billie Caffee; one sister, Nellie Dickson.
