Chester K.

He was raised in his beloved town of Middleton, Ma. After graduating Holten High School he served in the army from 1956-1958. From there he was employed at EB Washburn, a weathervane company, in Danvers, Ma. He then went on to be a welder at G.E. In Lynn. He ventured into self-employment as a carpenter, his clients loved him, as he had the gift of gab. His last employment was at Little Brook Village as the property manager, where again the residents enjoyed his lively conversation.

Chester and Joan had 4 children, Peter, Barbara, Mary, and Stephen. He was a proud father, guiding his wife and children through a lifetime of grand adventures into the wilderness. Teaching them all the love of hiking, camping, canoeing, snowmobiling, and fishing. There was always an adventure to be had, and he feared nothing in the wild, this was where he was at peace. His love of the great outdoors led him and Joan to build a camp in Oquossoc, Maine, on a dirt road in the middle of the wilderness, just the way he liked it. They enjoyed a very full and adventurous retirement, doing all of the activities they loved, in a place that they cherished. His life in Maine was full of friends, neighbors, and family, in his own cantankerous way he loved them all. They maintained a portion of the Appalachian trail and loved supporting, feeding, and housing hikers for many years.

Chester’s greatest pride and joy was his 8 grandchildren, Nicole Ryan, Tim Ryan, Courtney Crompton, Rachel Burns, Brittney Bellefeuilles, Derek Zagami, Molly Ryan, Mike Zagami. He loved nothing more than having his children and grandchildren at his camp in Maine. The memories that camp has brought to so many is a gift of a lifetime. The love that his neighbors and family showed him towards the end was overwhelming and we are thankful for that. May he Rest In Peace with views of the mountains, lakes, and sunsets in heaven.
