Chester Joseph Novak, 90, of Beverly Court Riverside, CA, died peacefully on Friday June 27, 2008 at Shady Acres Nursing Center in Exeter, RI. He was the beloved husband of Phyllis R. Novak.
Born in Norwich, CT, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Kaczur) Novak.
Mr. Novak was a graduate of Westerly High School, where he had been an outstanding outfielder on the baseball team.
Mr. Novak served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II.
Mr. Novak had been employed as a carpenter at the March Air Force Base in Riverside CA., for many years before his retirement.
Chester will be sadly missed by his nieces and nephews, Walter E. Novak Jr. of Wyoming, RI, William G. Day of Wyoming, RI, Richard T. Novak of Westerly, RI, William Novak Jr. of Bath ME, Theresa A. Duprey of Wyoming, RI, Carol A. Salisbury of Narragansett, RI, Helen E. Fribance of North Stonington, CT and Barbara Brown of Hope Valley, RI. He also leaves his dear friends in Riverside, CA, Dick Johnson, Mr and Mrs. John Ward, Bill Armstrong and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Stella Day and 3 brothers, Walter Novak, Brunel Novak and William Novak.
