Cheryl Lynn Cooksey, 70, of Brandywine, MD passed away on February 27, 2022 in Prince Frederick, MD after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Cheryl was born on May 5, 1951 in Washington, DC to the late Chester and Janet (Finch) Lantz. She married her high school sweetheart, Rodger W. Cooksey.
Cheryl was employed as an administrative assistant with the Office of Naval Intelligence in Suitland, MD from which she retired after many years of service.
Cheryl is survived by her husband, Rodger, her older daughter, Patricia “Patti” (Andy) Phillips; step-daughters, Rita Cooksey and Sara Wainwright; sisters, Margie (Ronnie) Bailey and Beverly (Ray) Sprouse, sister-in-law, Carolyn Lantz and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents. Cheryl was predeceased by her younger daughter, Angela “Angie” Hamilton and her brother, Michael Chester Lantz, Jr.
I am at peace, my soul’s at rest. There is no need for tears. For with your love I was so blessed for all these many years.
