Sherry Aguirre of Des Moines, Iowa and formerly of Sioux City, passed away on July 19th at a local hospital from complications of a stroke.

Sherry was born on February 19th, 1951 to Phyllis J. Lautenbaugh Hansen and Henry E. Hansen in Sioux City. She married Richard Goodwin in 1969 to which two daughters were born, Christine and Melissa. They later divorced. She married Patrick Aguirre in 1989. She was blessed with her only grandchild in 1993.

Sherry attended Stewart’s Beauty School but chose to help her family out by taking care of her Grandmother Freda Lautenbaugh. She then went on to work for JC Penney and Younkers in Sioux City and later was a pre-school teacher for Yellow Brick Road Child Care. Sherry loved music and was a master storyteller. She loved to laugh and often embellished her stories beyond recognition to entertain her listeners. She was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.

Sherry was preceded in death by her grandparents Henry and Freda Lautenbaugh, parents Henry and Phyllis Hansen, sister Elizabeth Skinner, brother Daniel Hansen, sister Kimberly Hansen and a pre-mature daughter Rebecca Goodwin.

Sherry is survived by her husband Patrick and his daughters Heather and Nadia and her daughters Angelica and Rosalind, daughters Christine Goodwin, Melissa Goodwin and her granddaughter Bailey Goodwin, sister Mindy (Russ) Kinnaman, Nieces Eden (Ross) Olson and their son Jack and Corinne (Ben) Newport and their daughters Alexis and Allysa, and a Nephew Aaron Hansen.

The family would like to thank everyone for their love and support throughout these past couple of months.
