Cheryl Joan Chaplin, 63, of Jacksonville, IL died Sunday, September 9, 2012 at her residence.
She was born April 26, 1949 in Milwaukee, WI; the daughter of Thomas Owen and Joyce E. Clark Harris. She married Robert E. Chaplin on October 18, 1969 at the Christ Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Jacksonville and he survives.
She is also survived by three children, Sue A. Wade of Jacksonville, Brenda A. Weaver (husband, Ron) of Jacksonville, and Peter Chaplin (wife, Shelly) of Murrayville; seven grandchildren, Lacey and Ashley Norris, Brady Wade, Tyler Eyre and Emily Weaver, all of Jacksonville, and Devon and Caden Chaplin, both of Murrayville; four siblings, Laurel J. Harris of Jacksonville, Paula J. Harris (companion, April Poole) of Springfield, Steven M. Harris of Jacksonville, and Amanda Kemper (companion, Pam Spoor) of Springfield; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons in infancy; and a brother, Thomas M. Harris.
Cheryl was a 1968 graduate of Illinois School for the Deaf and was employed at Dobbins Bakery and Hertzberg-New Method Bindery before becoming a mother and homemaker. She was a loving wife and devoted mother, always there for her family no matter the need. She enjoyed caring for her grandchildren especially during their camping trips together and hosting family celebrations during the holidays. She enjoyed cake decorating, camping, and bowling with friends in the Tuesday Night Bowl Inn League. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.
