Cheryl Binge Micale, 36, passed away on February 28th at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by loved ones from injuries suffered in a fire at her home in Middletown. Born November 20, 1978 in Hartford, Cheryl was the only child of Maggie and Bruce (Novotny) Binge.
Cheryl was a beach girl, a caring friend, and a loving wife. But most of all she was a devoted Mother who cherished snuggling with her sweet little boy. She attended the Independent Day School in Middlefield, and then attended Mercy High School, graduating in 1996. She went on to attend Central Connecticut State University. Cheryl began riding Appaloosa horses when she was 4 years old and fell in love. She continued riding until she was 21. She toured all over the Northeastern United States and traveled several times to Oklahoma City to compete in the National Horse Show. When in college, Cheryl worked at Cypress Restaurant in Middletown for five years before accepting a job at Webster Bank. On October 11, 2003, Cheryl married the love of her life, Brent Joseph Micale. In May 2007 their son, Anthony Vincent Micale, was born. Cheryl was also a loving step-mother to Brent’s daughter, Chelsey Rose Micale.
In 2007 after Anthony was born, Cheryl opened her own business, Cleaning by Cheryl, which gave her the flexibility to be home with her son, who was the center of her world. Cheryl and Anthony loved doing everything together, especially swimming together in their pool, working on puzzles, riding bikes, driving with the top down jammin’ to music and taking walks with their dog Boots, who also passed away that morning. Cheryl was loving, straight forward and full of sass. She touched the hearts of all who knew her. Cheryl was very close with her parents, especially her father. She was definitely a “daddy’s girl”. If he was putting new brakes on his truck, Cheryl was there. St. Pete Beach, FL was Cheryl’s favorite place. Many photos of Cheryl show her sun-kissed and smiling beside the water. She had planned to vacation again in April with her family and closest friends. Along with her parents, husband and beloved son, Cheryl is survived by her in-laws, Bill and Danica (Lane) Evans of Southington and Joe Micale of Middletown; her sister-in-law Sandi Anderson and her daughters, Alexandria, Kristina and Samantha, all of East Lyme; Ron Johnson of Middletown; her brother-in-law, Mark Micale of Hawaii; her Uncle and Aunt John and Barbara Novotny of Florida; a cousin, Carrie Novotny Parker of Higganum; her cousin, Eileen Bengston of Middletown; her five cousins she considered to be like brothers: Carl Bengston and Raymond Bengston, both of Middletown; Chad Spooner and Will Spooner, both of Durham and Stephen Spooner of Old Lyme; and many friends including her best friend, Alicia Morse and her husband, Justin. The family is especially grateful to Dr. Stacy Spooner for her help and love through this difficult time.
