Cheryl Faye Van Haaften Van Wyngarden was born on January 6, 1959. She was fifth of six children born to Henry and Janet (Wassink) Van Haaften. She died on Friday, April 23, 2010 at the University of Iowa hospital at the age of fifty-one after a short illness.
Cheri began her early childhood education at the Pella Christian Grade School and later graduated from Pella Christian High in 1977. While in high school she was a member of the Pella Christian High softball team where she received the All-State honorable mention award.
Those left to cherish Cheri’s memory are her devoted husband, Ron of Pella; her two sons and their wives: Eric and Emma Van Wyngarden of Pella and Scott and Michelle Van Wyngarden of Des Moines; her sister and brothers, Janice (Larry) Van Weelden of Pella, David (Dorothy) Van Haaften of Idaho Falls, ID, John (Jane) Van Haaften, Calvin (Mary) Van Haaften, Kevin (Amy) Van Haaften all of Pella; her mother-in-law, Minnie Van Wyngarden of Pella, her brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Walt (Isla) Van Wyngarden of Grand Rapids, Larry (Barb) Van Wyngarden of Newton, Daryl (Sheryl) Van Wyngarden of Peoria, Sherry (Doug) Pfadenhauer of Pella, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry Van Haaften in 1992 and Janet Van Haaften in 2005, and her father-in-law Henry Van Wyngarden in 2005.
