Chauncie (Charlene) Jeanette Banker, 85, of Paradise Valley, Arizona gained her heavenly dancing shoes on March 22nd, 2021. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. Born to Daniel and Lucille Brown on November 18, 1935 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. At a young age, Chauncie was stricken with Polio and the family soon moved to Hot Springs, Arkansas so she could be treated. Due to her strong will and love of life, Chauncie made a full recovery and the family then moved to Phoenix, Arizona where she lived the rest of her days. She attended Arizona Academy (later changed to Thunderbird Academy) and graduated in 1954 but has always stayed in contact with so many of her high school friends. One of the stories that best describes Chauncie’s humorous side was playing a slow version of “Deep Purple” on the organ for church service because she loved the popular song and thought no one would notice. Well, everyone noticed and Chauncie got in a lot of trouble. No one can say that she didn’t pave her own road and she also had her own funny sayings like “I don’t give a rat’s ass” and “Judas Priest”. She succeeded at many careers in her life but her favorite was being a wardrobe consultant at Escada where she could use her flair for fashion every day. She again remained lifelong friends with so many of her Escada customers and colleagues. Chauncie loved her jazz music, playing the piano and singing, old movies, dancing, going out to dinner, having her wine and her beloved cat, Stormy, who never left her side since she became ill. We thank her for teaching us to dress up, make up, do your hair, put your jewelry on and show up to the party-These are words that she lived by. Chauncie is survived by her husband, Gary Banker; her daughter, Paige Johnson (Casey); step daughter-in-law, Susan Banker; grandchildren, CJ Johnson and Sedona Johnson; step grandchildren Geoffrey Banker (Brittany) and Brandan Banker; nephew Mark Gove and niece Allison Bethen (Jason).
