Charlotte Kutzke, 92 of Freeport, Illinois went home to be with her heavenly father on Tuesday, March 1st at Presence St. Joseph Center. She was born on February 9th, 1930 in Calumet City, Illinois to George and Sadie (Kniersch) Steffan.
She came to Freeport in 1948 at the age of 18 to visit a friend. She loved Freeport and decided to stay. She met the love of her life, Paul Kutzke, at the Freeport roller rink and was married on September 22nd, 1951. Paul and Charlotte would go on Saturday night dates to the Masonic Temple Ballroom where they would dance the night away. They loved to hang out with their friends and go to drive inn movies. Together they had four daughters. Through the years she worked at TG&Y in the fabric department and JCPennys until she retired. Mom was such a beautiful soul and a beautiful example of what a Mother’s love is. Always there for Dad and us four girls and anyone else who needed her in her understanding way. Her devotion to her family was her life, making our house more than just a home, but a place full of love and contentment. Mom always had a smile on her face, putting others first and giving something up if she felt you needed it more than she did. Never expecting much, but thrilled when getting something. She would always make friends with whoever she would meet, and her smile and laughter would make your heart feel good. Mom was a wonderful seamstress making clothes for us girls, she also made our wedding dresses. She loved crocheting, painting pictures, and ceramics, and making beautiful arts and crafts. She loved taking vacations, garage saling, and getting together with her coffee members and card club group, which went on for many years. Most of all Mom loved her family gatherings. The good Lord sure blessed us with Mom. She did her job and did it well. Truly a life well lived.
Charlotte is survived by her four daughters, Kathy (Craig) Joesten and Karen (Mike) Brinkemier both of Freeport, Kim (Jack) Pudlas of Forreston, and Kendra (Kevin) Warner of Lena, Illinois. There are nine grandchildren Amy (Jarod) Zettle, Lisa (Jason) Chupich, Rebecca Kubatzke, Kristy Brinkmeier, Robert (Nichole) Brinkmeier, Kirby (Darrin) Marcure, Danielle (Brett) Alexander, Brandon (Melissa) Warner, Courtney (Andrew) Beach and 12 great-grandchildren, 1 brother Robert (Louann) Steffan.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.
