Charles Lewis Wilbur, 78 passed away peacefully in his home in Mary Esther, FL on Friday, October 28th, 2022 surrounded by his family, after a well-fought battle with kidney disease.
He was born on August 2, 1944, in Brunswick, GA.
He moved around a bit as a young man, finally settling in the Tampa area for his formidable years. He moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1979 and established a career in the banking and mortgage industry and would remain there for the rest of his working years.
In 1982, he met the love of his life, Carol whom he would share the next 39 years with. They blended their families and created a wonderful life together.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Margaret Wilbur.
Charlie as he was affectionately known most his life was a very active member of his community. He served as President of the Mary Esther Little League as well as a coach, an active member of the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce, The Elks Club, and several other local organizations. On any given day Charlie could be found entertaining friends and family at his home, sitting at his favorite spot at the bar in his living room. Charlie was a quick wit and always able to get a smile and laugh with a funny joke or pun. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Friend. He will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know him and his memory will live on in our hearts always.
