Charlie M. Monroe Jr. age 77 of Versailles, Indiana was born March 3, 1938 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the son of the late Charles M. & Lena Tingle Monroe. He was united in marriage to Nilda Josephine Cochran on May 3, 1964 in Bedford, Kentucky.

Charlie ran & operated the Phillips 66 Gas Station in Rexville, Indiana from 1964 to 1973. Along with the gas station, he also operated a junk yard. He loved going to yard sales & auctions where he would buy anything & everything, especially tractors & trailers! He loved the game of buy, sell & trade! Along with this, he worked as an auto & tractor mechanic selling some of those purchased items !

Charlie perhaps was best known throughout the area as a school bus driver for the South Ripley Community School Corporation. After 35 years of driving, he retired in 2010. Farming, raising cattle & pigs had also been a part of his life. He loved life in general, joking & laughing with his family & friends. Charlie passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Manderley Health Care Center in Osgood, Indiana.

SURVIVORS: Wife: Nilda Josephine Monroe of Versailles, Son: Ricky Daryl Monroe of Versailles.

Daughters: Debra Ann (Donald) Dunham of Union, Kentucky, Teresa Carol Monroe of Louisville, Kentucky.

Grandchildren: Amanda (Tyler) Harris of Walton, Kentucky, Kathryn & Heather Dunham of Union.

Several nieces & nephews survive.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; Wm., Dolph & Tommy Monroe. Also, five sisters; Bernice Tingle, Wanita Wilson, Lottie Butler, Geneva Monroe & Margaret Washburn.
