Mr. Charlie Gray Mallory, 94 of Grantville, passed away at his home Tuesday, September 26, 2017 surrounded by his family. Charlie was born September 14, 1923 in Meriwether County to the late Van B. Mallory & Maude Hale Mallory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie LaVerne Johnson Mallory and his six siblings. Mr. Mallory served in the Army and served honorably under General Patton during the Battle of the Bulge. After his military service, he went to work for the telephone company installing telephone poles. Charlie took great pride in his work with Bellsouth and quickly moved up the ladder, retiring as a district manager. After retirement, Charlie was very active with the Telephone Pioneers, serving two separate terms as president of the Tri-City Chapter. He was a member of Moreland First Baptist Church. The family is grateful to his caregivers Brenda Smith, Renee Bell, Wandra Evans for the excellent care and support given to Mr. Mallory. Survivors include daughter, Patricia Mallory Walters; granddaughter, Chrissie Chapman; great-grandchildren, Allison White, Katelyn White, Maddie White; sister-in-law, Bobbie Manning; brother-in-law, Wallace Rhodes; numerous nieces and nephews.
