He retired from Delco Remy in Anderson in 1985 where he worked as a utility man.

He was a member of New Covenant Ministry Center in Anderson.

Charlie loved Jesus, family, and fishing.

Charlie is survived by his daughter, Pam (Charlie) Shelton of Anderson; 2 sons, Rick (Connie) Gardner of Anderson and David (Nae) Gardner of Anderson; 4 brothers, James (Sandra) Gardner of Columbus, MS, Douglas (Judy) Gardner of St. Louis, MO, John (Lequeita) Gardner of Smyrna, TN, and Dale (Fran) Gardner of Bowling Green, KY; Sister Martha Clements of Columbus, MS; Sister-in-Law, Edith Gardner of Sikeston, MO; Grandchilden, Andy (JB), Bubba (Angel), Sis (Michael), Jon (Jamie), Josh, Amanda (Teddy), Justin (Jacque), Lindsay (Ray), Michael, Promise, Raiden, Lilly, Lexi, and Bri; 19 Great-Grandchildren. Several Nieces and Nephews.

He was preceded in death by wife, Shirley Gardner; father, JW Gardner; mother, Odessa Gardner; Sister and Brother-in-Law, Virginia (Dub) Deason; brother, Robert Gardner; Sister-in-Law, Patsy Gardner.
