Charlie Floyd Nichols of Palmetto Bay, Florida passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Charlie was born on May 24, 1925 in Barber, Arkansas. He was the son of Frank F. Nichols and Rhoda M. (Hunt) Nichols. He was preceded in death by his sister Ruby Lassiter and his brother Frank Nichols, Jr.
He graduated from Booneville High School, joined the U.S. Navy and later attended Oklahoma State University, where he earned a B.S. degree in Accounting.
He proudly served in World II on the cruise ship U.S.S. Denver during the Battle of the Leyte Gulf. He was called back to duty in the Korean War, was accepted into officer candidate school and ended his naval career as a Lieutenant Commander.
He then spent a long, successful career in Finance at Eastern Airlines in Miami, Florida, retiring in 1992. In his retirement, he served as a Board Member for the Eastern Financial Federal Credit Union and enjoyed traveling the world with his wife Mary Anne.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Mary Anne Keady Nichols, his daughters Rebecca Maxine (husband Todd) Koonts of Windermere, Florida and Mary Charla (husband Joseph) Burley of Dover, Ohio, his grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Nicholas (wife Mary), Christopher (fiancé Alexa Del Cielo) and John Burley and Rachel and Sarah Koonts.
