Charles Preston “Woody” Woodard, 76, of Temple. Mr. Woodard passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Baylor-Scott and White in Temple.

Woody died on August 15, 2021 in a Temple hospital. He was born in Brownsville, Tennessee on April 25, 1945 to James Edward and Corble (Reece) Woodard. He married Becky (Housley) Woodard of Belton in 2015 and they resided in Temple.

Woody dedicated his life to the service of others with careers in the military and law enforcement. He served our country for 9 years as a SGT in the U.S. Army and spent 3 tours in Vietnam. Woody later served on the Killeen Police Department for 20 years and as a criminal investigator for the State of Texas for 8 years. Woody was also a marksman and sharp shooter for the KPD pistol team.

Woody’s hobbies included hunting and competition shooting. Woody was a fan of Nascar and enjoyed racing go-karts and driving his tractor. He loved to help others and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Stacie Lynn Bagley and her husband Todd, and late wife Barbara Woodard, two sisters, one brother and his parents. He is survived by his wife Becky, brother Larry Joe Dale Woodard (Shirley), children Glenn McComb (Tina), Donald McComb (Connie), Dana Ladd (Stephen), Robert Hickerson (Melissa), Janna Bowen (Eric), 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
