Charles William Sterling, Sr.
Charles William Sterling, Sr. 95, of Kingwood, died Monday, September 28 2015, at Preston Memorial Hospital with family by his side.
He was born November 10, 1919, in Crisfield, Maryland, a son of the late Charles Ephraim and Laura Mae Sterling.
He was a loving father, grandfather and brother; he served in the US Army during WWII and worked as an electrical engineer for Vitro Corporation, a United States Department of Defense contractor. Mr. Sterling was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rockville, MD.
He is survived by his three sons, Chuck Sterling and wife, CeCe of Manassas, VA, Chris Sterling and wife, Etta of Oakland, MD and Craig Sterling and wife, Mary Ann of Germantown, MD; his loving caretaker, Jane Sterling of Kingwood; three brothers, Eli Sterling and wife, Bess of Dover, DE, David Sterling and wife, Anne of Greenwood, DE and Austin Sterling and wife, Pat of St. Petersburg, FL; his sister, Nancy van Alstine and husband, Doug of Ellenton, FL; five grandchildren, Amber Sterling, Andrew Beshears, Aaron Beshears, Caleb Sterling and Cameron Sterling; six great grandchildren, Sierra Chapman, Shane Sterling, Drew Beshears, Devon Beshears, Dylan Beshears and Trinity Beshears and two special friends, Ashlyn Haevers and Kayleann Travis.
He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Sarah Christine Dunbar Sterling who died in 2007, a brother, Gilbert Sterling; three sisters, Evelyn Hulse, Mary Phippin and Dorothy Ammons.
