Charles William Ice, 81, of Fredericksburg, died Monday evening, April 25, 2016 at his home following a brief illness.
He was born Nov. 4, 1934 in Hocking Port in Athens County to the late Logan Jackson and Plessie Jane (Simmons) Ice and had made his home in Fredericksburg for many years, and for several years in Marietta. Chuck worked for 20 years at Crown Steel in Orrville and later for 17 years as a custodian at Apple Creek Elementary School. He was a member of the VFW in Vienna, OH and the Eagles Lodge in Beverly, OH and enjoyed hunting, fishing, county music, square dancing and working puzzles.
Surviving are his daughter, Brenda Ice of Fredericksburg; grandsons, Zac McVay and Jordan McVay; great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Jean McVay; a brother, Harry Ice of Marietta and sisters, Norma Jean Cain of Vincent, Shirley Penland and Betty McIntire both of Lowell, Bonnie Sams of Hocking Point and JoAnn Reed of Reedsville.
Preceded in death by his former wife, Shirley Cramer Ice in 2013, a son, Charles Edward Ice in 1998, brothers, Garland, Harley, Arthur, Ray and Melvin and sisters, Maxine Cain and Leafy, Alice and Elva Ice.
