Hagerstown, MD – Charles “Wayne” Cooper, 71, of Hagerstown, MD passed from this life to his heavenly home on Monday, September 14, 2020 at Meritus Medical Center.
Born November 26, 1948 in Boissevain, VA, he was the son of the late Charles William and Retha Zolma Schuller Cooper. In his teens the family moved to Hagerstown and he graduated in 1967 from North Hagerstown High School.
Wayne served in the U.S. Navy from March 1968-March 1972.
He was employed by Mack Trucks almost 40 years, retiring in June 2012.
He was a member of Maugansville Bible Brethren Church serving as their head usher for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Becky, whom he married on November 16, 1996. He is also survived by a daughter Shannon Garland and her husband Brian of Hagerstown, MD; two brothers Tom Cooper and his wife Trish of Elgin, SC and Barry Cooper and his wife Holly of Hagerstown, MD; sister Gail Farris and her husband Tim of Greencastle, PA; step-son Todd Reed; step-daughter Tara Hessong and her husband Mike; step-grandchildren Karli Jones and her husband Zach and Justin Bagent and his wife Lisa all of Hagerstown, MD, Madisen Smith-Garland of Mercersburg, PA; step-great-grandchildren Colton and Leeland Jones, Wesley Bagent of Hagerstown, MD and Kaesyn and Luella Jones of Mercersburg, PA. He is also survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
