Uncle Charles received public education at Vaiden Highshool in Vaiden, Mississippi. In his life time he has worked many places but he loved brick layering and has held small jobs like scraping and hauling to earn extra money and keeping busy.

Uncle Charles was blessed to meet the love of his life, Alice. On June 17, 1972 they were united in Holy Matrimony. To this union they were blessed with 2 children. He was honored to have his family for many years until he transitioned into eternal rest on August 21, 2020.

Uncle Charles has 4 children in all. In which he had a special bond with each of them. Anytime he was talking to anyone he would make sure he would mention his loving daughter Joann. He expressed his gratitude for how much he appreciated her sending him gifts. He loved going over to Keonna’s house to meet up with Damon to have a party with just the few of them. He would mentor to Keonna a lot, expressing that he wanted to see her do good in life as a mother to his grand-daughter. He and little Charles had many years together in Charlotte, North Carolina as well. They worked together at labor ready places. It was an honor to be called Walter and Walter on the job because they shared the same name as father and son. So, you see loving his kids was EVERYTHING!

Uncle Charles was born into a big family of eleven children and was the eldest son. He loved playing games with his siblings with hopes to always beat them at whatever they did. However, when he did not win he would be upset. He and his siblings enjoyed the southern life of running fields, meddling with folks, riding farm animals and laughing away. When uncle moved here to the City of Indianapolis he also found great interest in friends and hanging out with his nephews Maine and Booman. He loved these guys because they were the baby boys to his baby sisters.  Uncle Charles always was up for good fun, BOOZE, food and laughter. Although, he was a private man he never wanted to be still. He wanted to enjoy life at its best for him and his family!

Uncle Charles leaves this side of earth to cherish his memory, his wife Alice Meeks, daughters: Joann Phifer (Antonio) & Keonna Williams, Sons: Charles Meeks Jr. & Damon Meeks, His Loving Sisters: Annie Boyd Meeks, Lue Emma Meeks, Victoria Meeks, Cornelius Washington, Equilla Washington, Pricilla Washington, Brittney Meeks, Sandra Meeks, Vivian Meeks, Sylvia Meeks, His Brothers; Clemon Washington, Milton Meeks & Jerry Meeks and a host of nieces and nephews
