Charles W. “Chuck” Shoemaker, 69, of Pleasant Hill, IL and formerly of Cleburne, TX and Jacksonville, IL died Saturday, April 16, 2011 at Illini Community Hospital in Pittsfield, IL.

He was born February 18, 1942 in Pittsfield; the son of Charles Sr. and Myrtle Belle McGee Shoemaker.

He is survived by four children, Renee Barton (husband, Robbie) of Pleasant Hill, Tammy Sue McClain of Cleburne, TX, Tony Shoemaker of Chester, and Christine Mitchell (husband, Eric) of Killen, TX; two step children, Theresa Shanks of Pearl and Tina Shamblin of Jacksonville; several grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, Earl Weldon Shoemaker of Jasper, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Johnny Shoemaker and, in infancy, Douglas Dwight Shoemaker.

Mr. Shoemaker attended Jerseyville schools and served with the US Marine Corps. He owned and operated Fairway Construction Company in Jacksonville and later in Cleburne, TX. He was a member of Deeper Life Christian Fellowship in Cleburne, TX. An avid NASCAR racing fan, he enjoyed gardening and spending time with his great grandchildren.
