Charles Thomas (Tom) Fleenor, III of 1180 Union Bridge Road, Ferrum, VA died Saturday, February 20, 2010 at his home. Tom was born on July 2, 1951 in Martinsville, VA to Anna Bowe Lester Wells of Martinsville, VA and the late Charles Thomas Fleenor, Jr. He is survived by his wife, Martha (Marty) Reed Fleenor of the home; step-father the Rev. Lynwood Wells of Martinsville, VA; mother-in-law, Martha W. Reed of Collinsville, VA; two sisters, Natalie Fleenor Coleman and Susan Fleenor both of Martinsville, VA; an uncle, John Fleenor and his wife, Pat of Rockbridge Baths, VA; two step-brothers, Lynwood Wells, Jr. of Martinsville, VA and Peter Wells of Rome, GA; nieces, Helen Alley, Sarah Coleman and Anna Easter and nephews, Nicholas Alley, Jacob Cooper, Daniel Cooper and Ryan Coleman and his Jack Russells, Buster, Hannah and Wendy. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, H. Claybrook and Natalie Lester; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Ora Fleenor, and a step-brother, John Emory Wells. Tom was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Virginia Archaeological Society, Ducks Unlimited, the Virginia Wildlife Association, the NRA, and several hunting clubs. He was a volunteer at the Virginia Museum of Natural History which houses his Artifact collection. He graduated from Martinsville High school and attended Ferrum College where he was a valued member of the tennis team. Tom retired as president of H.C. Lester, Inc. and was known throughout the state as an avid hunter and fisherman.
