Charles Thomas Pedigo, “Chuck”, 85, passed away on November 12, 2005 after a brief illness. Chuck was born on February 7, 1920 in Tompkinsville, KY. Chuck lived and worked in Indianapolis, Indiana before moving to Phoenix, AZ in 1968. Charles retired in 1981 from the Valley National Bank. He served with distinction in the U.S. Navy during World War II and saw combat action as a tail gunner off the carrier U.S.S. Belleau Wood. Chuck received a number of commendations and metals. The U.S.S. Belleau Wood received a Presidential Unit Citation “for extraordinary heroism in action against enemy Japanese forces in the air, ashore and afloat in the Pacific War area”.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Sallie Pedigo of Indianapolis, IN; his wife Virginia; his wife Ann; his brothers, Jess, Joe and Gaylen and two grandchildren, Alisha Ruggles of Glendale, AZ and Tom Fitzpatrick of Indianapolis, IN. Chuck is survived by his children Terry Tress (James) of Flagstaff, AZ; Robert Anthony Pedigo (Donna) of Indianapolis, IN, Donald Frank Pedigo (Nancy) of Indianapolis, IN, Donna Frances Whited (John) of Cincinnati, OH; his sister, Marie Eastridge (Louis) of Denver, CO, brother, Donald Pedigo (Pat) of Indianapolis, IN, step-daughter, Ginger Fitzpatrick of Indianapolis, IN, 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
After the passing of his wife Ann, Chuck moved to Flagstaff in June, 2005 to live with his youngest daughter Terry, husband Jim and grandchildren Sean and Ashley Ruggles.
