Charles “the Colonel” W. Lewis, MD, of Greenwood, passed away Thursday, June 21, 2018.
He was a retired Colonel of the United States Army, having served our country for over 30 years. He retired from Ft. Sam Houston as a highly decorated Colonel. The Colonel served in Vietnam. While in the military, the Colonel served as the personal dermatologist to President Lyndon Banes Johnson.
Charles was in the first graduating class of the University of West Virginia Medical School. He retired from Indiana University Department of Dermatology.
Charles is survived by his wife, Kathleen K.T. Townsley Lewis, RN; two sons, John (Christine) Lewis, and Michael (Kelly) Brown, and five grandchildren, Jared and Joshua Lewis, Ella Brown, and Alex and Caroline Brooks.
Charles was preceded in death by his two sons, Philip and Chuck Lewis.
