Reverend Steve Davidson DAVIDSON, Reverend Charles Stephen “Steve”. Haralson, GA. Born October 22, 1944, and died suddenly at home July 4, 2017. The Reverend Steve Davidson was born in Knoxville, TN, the son of Howard and Eursula Davidson. He graduated from Tennessee Wesleyan College and began his seminary studies at Garrett Theological Seminary at Northwestern University in Chicago. He completed his ministerial training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and served churches and congregations in the Houlston Conference in Tennessee and in the North Georgia Conference for a total of thirty-five years of full time service. Steve Davidson left Tennessee for Atlanta to continue his clinical pastoral education (CPE) at Georgia Mental Health Institute. He fell in love with the state of Georgia and stayed, serving the following churches in the North Georgia Conference: Lyrley United Methodist Church; St. Timothy UMC, Norcross UMC as Associate Pastor and Clarksville UMC; Red Oak UMC (Covington); Bethel UMC (Hiram); McKever Road UMC (Oakwood); Barnesville UMC; and Senoia UMC. After retiring from Senoia UMC, Reverend Davidson completed more CPE hours and served as PRN Chaplain with Emory University Hospitals in Atlanta. He finished his formal ministry serving at Stewart Avenue UMC (Atlanta) as a retired supply pastor for nine years. Steve’s ministry was not just inside his churches. He had a heart and a love for people and was happiest when he was able to share God’s message of love with friends, congregations, and patients. While serving at Barnesville UMC, Steve found a new favorite pastime – coaching his daughter Linda’s softball team. Steve was also elected president of the local Rotary Club in Barnesville and fulfilled those duties with pride and enthusiasm. His precious daughters were involved in both marching band and chorus at East Coweta High School, and Steve supported those activities throughout their high school years. Steve was a Tennessee Volunteers fan beginning in early childhood, even selling concessions at the games when he was old enough, and he spent one year of undergraduate studies at the University of Tennessee. When his daughter attended the University of Georgia, Steve became a loyal Dawgs fan even (sometimes) when they played his beloved Tennessee Vols. He was also a loyal fan of the Atlanta Braves and was known to call friends in Georgia from a Tennessee football game to check on the Braves score for that day’s game. Steve Davidson was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Larry Davidson. He is survived by Mary Ruth Haisten Davidson, his wife of thirty-five years; his daughters Elizabeth Davidson of Athens, GA and Linda Davidson Blenk (Andrew) of Marietta, GA; his brother Ray(Shirley) Davidson of Knoxville, TN; cousins who grew up with Steve like brothers; and several nieces and nephews.
