Charles Richard Jordan “Rick” went home to be with his Lord and Savior on January 31, 2021, in Ft. Pierce, Florida. He was born October 18, 1947, in his grandmother’s home in Okeechobee, Florida to Florrie M. Jordan. He was a lifetime resident of Okeechobee.
Rick was preceded in death by his Mother.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Letta Jordan; three sons: Charles R. Jordan II (Christy), and John Michael Jordan (Rebecca) from Okeechobee, and James Jordan from North Carolina; eight grandchildren: Taylor, Colton, Justin, and Gracie from Okeechobee and Kaitlyn, Kloie, Brayden, and Brynna from North Carolina; sister, Debbie Sparkman of Okeechobee; and three nieces and nephews.
Rick graduated from Okeechobee High School in 1965. He has been instrumental in recent years to organize the class reunions that brought the friends from that class back together.
Rick served in the US Army from 1967-1970 and in the National Guard from 1979-1985. He belonged to the National Rifle Association and was a charter member of the Okeechobee National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. He worked at the Okeechobee Water Department and then the Okeechobee Utility Authority for 30 years from which he retired.
Rick was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Okeechobee for 45 years. He and his wife taught preschool Sunday School and Church there for over 15 years. He also loved sports as a coach of his sons’ little league ball teams and as a spectator watching his sons and grandkids playing baseball and soccer. He participated in church softball leagues and played tennis and golf with friends. He also enjoyed heated games of cards and board games with his many friends.
