Charles Rayburn Lee, 79, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully, at home, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, April 9, 2017 in Greenwood. He was born on May 12, 1937 in Bethpage, Tennessee, to his parents, Otis and Ida (Scruggs) Lee. Charles married Mary (Lindsey) Lee on May 2, 1959 in Brownsville, Kentucky.

He worked for Adams Roofing, for 10 years, retiring in 2006. Charles enjoyed hunting, camping, and Civil War history. He was a dedicated leader with the Royal Rangers scouting program for over 40 years. Prior to serving in the Royal Rangers, Charles served for 6 years, in the Boy Scouts. He was the “go-to” instructor for learning about muzzle loading and gaining certification. He enjoyed teaching others about the art of handling and firing muzzle loaders; he even made his own lead bullets. To the right, you will see a picture of Charles in his full frontier regalia for his participation in the Frontier Christian Fellowship. Charles was a faithful member of Franklin First Assembly of God.

Charles is survived by, his loving wife, Mary (Lindsey) Lee of Greenwood; three children, Donna Lee of Bargersville, Alan (Regina) Lee of Indianapolis and Tom Linn of Nineveh; two sisters, Shirley Keown of Kentucky and Nancy Robertson of Camby, two brothers, Roger (Martha) Lee of Kentucky and Randell (Becky) Lee of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Emma Tanner, Kira, Taylor, and Logan Lee, and Claudia Valentine and two great-grandchildren, Cameron Valentine and Addy Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Ida Lee, a brother, J.W. Lee, and half-brother, James Lee, and five sisters, Marnell England, Beatrice Hollingsworth, Nola Forbes, Thena Graves, and Mary Jo Kirby.
