Charles Raburn Mitchell, age 63, of Temple. Charles Raburn Mitchell, entered rest on May 14, 2010 at his home in Temple, Texas. His death came after a courageous battle with two very rare diseases. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life.
He was born July 22, 1946 in Temple, Texas to the late Evelyn Marie Cockrell Mitchell and Raburn Irving Mitchell. Charles was a graduate of Belton High School. Enrollment in Tarleton University was one of his choices for higher education. Additional education was at Mary Hardin Baylor and Temple College. The navy was his home from 1966 till 1969.
Following his time in the service he was employed as a conductor by Santa Fe Railroad for 22 years, an additional 11 years after the merger of Burlington Northern/Santa Fe. Charles retired in 2006 after 33 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Mitchell of Temple, daughter Kelsey Mitchell of Denver, CO.
Other survivors include step daughters Loretta Huttman and her son Elijah Huttman of Richmond, Maine; Johnna Motta of Warwick, Rhode Island. Charles “Chuck” is also survived by his two brothers Randolph Mitchell of The Grove, Texas and James Mitchell of Oakdale, California, their wifes, children and may other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was an inspiration to many and will be missed by all.
