Charles R. McGuire,90, of Anderson, passed away on March 7, 2015 at his home after several months of illness. He was born on April 18, 1924 in Anderson, to Frank and Hildred McGuire, and was an Anderson resident all of his life. In his early life, he lived with his grandparents, Vergie and Clint Allen. He then graduated from Anderson High School.
He worked for Delco Remy for 43 and half years in Skilled Labor in Plant Eleven. Charles and his wife enjoyed 48 years of marriage. They did a lot of driving and flying since they visited all 50 states, Mexico, all the islands of Hawaii, several places in England, then on to several European countries. They spent a lot of time going back to places he was stationed during the 4 years he served in the Army during WWII.
After all the traveling, Charles decided to join the Masonic Lodges in Anderson and Indianapolis. He was a member of the Mount Moriah Lodge No. 77 F&A.M., Madison County Shrine Club, Madison County Scottish Rite Club, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and life member of the American Legion, Anderson, IN.
When he was a member of the Madison County Shrine Club, he drove the Mud Cars for several years. Later, he drove the little white Corvettes in several parades in a lot of states. They also paraded in Canada, and won many trophies. As the years went by, his army buddies began having reunions every year. Charles and his wife attended several before it became time for them to host. They met at Indianapolis hotels and then later went to Anderson hotels.
Years passed, and his buddies got older and were not able to attend, but they did try to keep in touch with the wives and relatives. Charles is survived by his caring and love of his life, Blanche McGuire, and his loving and caring step-son, William E. Henry of San Jose, CA. Also surviving are many cousins, and many special friends, Judy Carter, Gary and Angie Holladay, John Hicks, Cass and Gay Shock, Jean Carpenter, Nancy and Denis Carpenter and their families, Yong and Ming Helshey, and Max and Betty Massengoll and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
