Charles Paul Cunningham, Jr., of Greensburg (Unity Township) passed away on April 3, 2017. He was born on June 2, 1929 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a son of the late Charles Paul Cunningham, Sr. and Edith Pearl Flohr Cunningham. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Mark Cunningham and his sister Joyce Ripley. He is survived by his wife, whom he loved dearly, Rose Aline Cunningham; seven children, Eleanor Lenhard (Jim), Charlie Cunningham (Becky), Joe Cunningham (Aileen), Bill Cunningham (Becky), Carol Shupe (Jim) Laura Nickel (Max) and Mary Dominick (Jeff); 18 grandchildren 15 great grandchildren; his sister, Kathy Tucker and niece Ellen Tucker. Charlie was a devoted and well-loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Parish. Charlie was an accomplished musician and artist. As a young man he played in the U.S. Navy band and the Wheeling Symphony. While a member of the Westmoreland County Historical Society, he was involved in the purchase of land and the beginning of restoration of Old Hannastown. Charlie was very proud of the restoration of his historical stone home. Prior to retirement, he was a furniture manufacturer’s sales representative. He was co-owner of Springhill Furniture. He was founder and former CEO of Christian Layman Corps. Charlie was awarded the Salt and Light Award by the Greensburg Catholic Diocese. His faithfulness in Christ and compassion for those in need touched the lives of many. “Well done, good and faithful servant”, Matthew 25:21. God bless you Charlie.
