Charles O. Harris, 86, of Troy, IL, born August 9, 1931 in Troy, IL, and passed away on Saturday January 20, 2018, at his home on the farm where he was born, surrounded by his loving family.
Charles served his Country in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 708, Troy, IL. He was a hard worker and retired from R. P. Lumber Company after 32 years of service. He loved working on his farm, fishing, hunting, bowling and hunting for mushrooms. He loved his family and was known for his patience.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles G. and Myrtle M. (nee Goetter) Harris; and grandchildren, Dyan and Jennifer Harris.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Maylene J. (nee Phillips) Harris; children, Charles (Janet) Harris of Holiday Shores, IL, William (Kathy) Harris of Greenville, IL, Charlene (Mike) Elkins of Panama, IL, Daryl Harris of Panama, IL, Craig Harris of Troy, IL, Cheryl “Chicks” (Greg) Eaton of Troy, IL, and Bryan (Lisa) Harris of Cicero, IN; 28 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; brother, Roy (Joann) Harris of Collinsville, IL, Verla Moravec of Maryville, IL, and Shirley (Dennis) Strake of New Baden, IL; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
