Charles “Bobby” Robert Myers was born June 3, 1937 in Clarkesville, Maryland to the late, Joseph and Elsie Brown Myers and was the youngest of nine. He was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on July 5, 2020 at the age of 83.

Bobby was educated in the Howard County Public Schools and graduated from Harriet Tubman High School. Shortly after graduating in 1957, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He was trained in airplane refueling. He received an honorable discharge in 1959. After serving in the military, Bobby choose a career as a Carpet Installer and later owned his business, “Myers Carpet Installation Service”, until his retirement in 2009. He was a true craftsman.

Bobby had a love for fast cars, street racing and motorcycles. He was a sports fanatic, whether it was football, baseball or basketball, he watched it all. His favorite sports team was the Washington Redskins. He was also a Baltimore Orioles fan until the Washington Nationals came to town. His other hobby was fishing and yes, he also lied about catching that big fish. Bobby did not like to tell anyone NO to any request, but just because he did not refuse, did not mean the task got completed. Bobby and his wife, Viola, enjoyed traveling the world on cruises and flying to the West Coast.

After attending Goshen United Methodist Church in Gaithersburg, Maryland for years with his wife Viola it was on September 24, 2000 that Bobby became a member. During his time at Goshen, he helped with Stewartown Community Day, used his carpentry skills to help beautify the church, and assisted with other church events. He was well loved by all in the church and maintained his longtime friendships with Russell Duvall and Robert “Jazz” Stewart.

Bobby leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 46 years, Gertrude Viola Plummer Myers and his daughter, Robin Lynn Myers Wise, from a previous marriage to Betty J. Scott. He also leaves to mourn three granddaughters, Jaime, Jessica and Jade Wise; six great-grandchildren, Majessa Baldwin, Ashley and Andrew Reynolds, Jaden, Jordan, and Ja’niya Wise; sister Edna Hicks of Mitchellville, MD; sisters-in-law Clementine and Hattie Myers, Patricia “Patsy” Williams, Hattie “Pinky” Hopkins (Bernard), and Michelle Plummer; brothers-in-law, Kenneth Wilson, Thomas, George, Sherman, Clarence and Dwight Plummer; four godchildren Michelle Plummer, Antoinette “Toni” Addison, Khoran Richburg, and Alexis Hammie; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
