Charles Marvin Gore, 67, of St. Jacob, Ill., born Aug. 21, 1945, in Rector, Ark., died on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at NEA Baptist Hospital, Jonesboro, Ark.

Mr. Gore graduated from Rector High School in 1963 and earned a bachelor of science in agriculture from Arkansas State University in 1969. He worked for 42 years for the USDA combining his love for farming and outgoing nature with his enjoyment of computers. He always kept a big garden at his property in St. Jacob, Ill., was proud of his son’s accomplishments in the field of computers, and never missed one of his daughter’s concerts. He was active at both the First Baptist Church in Rector, Ark., that his mother attended for many years, as well as Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy, Ill., where he raised his children. He loved to talk to people and help out, he always had a joke to lighten everyone’s day and was always true to himself.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Claud Henry Sr., and Mabel Juanita, nee Maltbie, Gore.

Surviving is his wife, Carolyn Marie “Lynn”, nee Ruppel, Gore of St. Jacob, Ill., whom he married on Feb. 16, 1974, at St. Peters United Church of Christ in Elmhurst, Ill.; children, Cheryl (Seth) Schaefer of Collinsville, Ill., and Christopher (Monica) Gore of O’Fallon, Ill..; brothers, Claude (Anita) Gore Jr., of Wappapello, Mo., and JW (Judy) Gore of Ward, Ark.; sisters, Margie (Alan) Rice of Bowie, Texas, and Camellia (Keith) Hall of Cabot, Ark.; one uncle; three aunts; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
