Deacon Charles Murry Rogers, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather was born on March 23, 1931 in Decatur, Alabama to the late Willie and Annie Thatch Rogers. He departed this life peacefully at his residence on April 7, 2014 surrounded by his loving family.

He graduated from Lakeside High School, Decatur, AL and Alabama A&M University, Huntsville, AL.  He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force,  a teacher in the Decatur City School System, a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Director of the Boys and Girls Club, local writer and publisher of the book “Somebody Had to Say It: and cookbook “Everybody’s Cookbook”, community historian and was active in many church and community activities.

He was a member and a deacon of First Missionary Baptist Church and had served in numerous capacities in several auxiliaries of the church.

Among those who Charles is now eternally reunited with are his parents and five siblings, Willie, Felix, Ada, Everett and Deloris.

Those who he leaves awaiting their glorious reunion with him are: a loving and devoted wife, Georgia Neal Rogers; four children, Eugene Rogers (Jeanette), Rochester Hills, MI, Karina Walker, Hillsboro, Carletta Cullen (Earnest), Birmingham, AL, Karle Rogers (Jan), Decatur; two sisters-in-law, Christine Thomas, Dothan and Berdell Currington (James), St. Petersburg, FL; two brothers-in law, Mace Neal (Katherine), Huntsville, and Jessie Owens (Betty), Marietta, GA; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was loved and will be greatly missed.
