Charles M. Manifold, 87, of Anderson, passed away on January 17, 2016 at the Saint Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital Anderson, IN. He was born on October 28, 1928 in Anderson, Indiana and resided in the Anderson area his entire life. He graduated from Anderson High School in 1946.
He shared a wonderful life with his wife of 67 years, Phyllis. He told her several times a day how much he loved her. His work career began at Ward Stilson until August 1951. He started and operated Manifold Refuse for the next 27 years. He loved to work in the yard and take care of his log cabin. Fun times were had on Lake Tippecanoe in the summer months. For many years, Charles was an avid golfer with friends, Paul Davis, Butch Hensley, Steve Super, Pierce Upchurch, Paul Stewart and others. Charles also enjoyed IU, Purdue and Pacer basketball as well as the Colts.
Charles and Phyllis spent 37 years wintering in Nokomis, Florida where he enjoyed playing golf, tennis, shuffleboard and just relaxing in the warm weather. Charles and Phyllis made many wonderful friends in Florida. One neighbor’s son was a professor of economics at Ole Miss and gave a speech to his class about how Charles and another neighbor who opened a grocery store in Columbus, Ohio started their own businesses and made them grow with hard work, dedication and long hours.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, children: Brad (Debbie) Manifold and Lori (Mark) Williams. He loved and cherished his grandchildren, Tyler Manifold, Brandon Freeland and friend, Allie Morgan, Brett (Mary) Manifold and Ben Manifold, fiance, Chelsea Miller; great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Manifold, Reese and Ali Manifold and a great-grandson coming in March, several nieces and nephews including special nephew, Dave Skillman. He will be dearly missed.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Lillie Manifold, son, John Manifold, brothers, John and Russell and sisters, Ruth and Alice.
